Dreamy Italian Dunkers

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe

I’m still dreaming about these Italian dunkers! They are that good. These are cheesy, garlicky and full of flavor. They are perfect as an appetizer or meal and are perfect to share with a crowd (remember what it was like to invite friends over?). If you want these Italian Dunkers to be part of a selection of appetizers, serve with Melitzanosalata (Greek Eggplant Dip) and cheesy Disco Fries.

Tips to make Italian Dunkers

  • Cook the cheese slowly. This will help you to avoid burning it for best results.
  • Use a high quality dipping sauce. Choosing the right dipping sauce will make all the difference in how your Italian Dunkers turn out!

Choose Your Dipping sauces

We served our Italian Dunkers with a homemade marinara sauce but you could use store-bought or your favourite sauce.

These are some dipping sauce ideas :

  • Sweet marinara sauce
  • Whiskey BBQ
  • Aioli
  • Pesto
  • Arrabiatta (spicy tomato sauce)
  • Puttanesca sauce (tomato and olives)
  • Dreamy Tahini Dip

You can also mix up the cheese you use

We used mozzarella for this recipe but if you are a cheese lover like us and want to experiment with some other cheeses, go for it!

Some cheese ideas :

  • Goat cheese
  • Blue cheese
  • Swiss or Emmental cheese
  • Brie
  • Cheddar
