Our bucketlist is really long and we are always excited to have the chance to check something wonderful off of it. Seeing the tulips in Holland has been on our bucketlist for years and we just got back from making our dream of seeing them a reality. It was such an amazing experience and we are really excited to share it here with you today!
Seeing the tulips in Holland was originally on my mom’s bucketlist and was passed down to ours. She has been showing me pictures of the beautiful tulips and mentioning that she wanted to go there one day for years, but somehow we had never made it there during tulip season.
This year, for my mom’s birthday, we wanted to surprise her with an amazing trip to Holland to see the tulips in bloom! Somehow we managed to plan everything, have my sister in on it too, and keep everything a secret. It wasn’t easy, but we did it!
There are several parts to the garden – open fields, planted vignettes and even artwork made from tulips. There are also pavillons filled with beautiful blooms – potted tulips and other flowers and an entire orchid house!
We didn’t really know what to expect other than beautiful flowers. There were also some delicious treats to snack on as we visited the flowers. Keukenhof Garden is in Lisse – about 35 minutes from the center of Amsterdam – and once you are inside the garden, it is easiest to eat inside during your visit. There isn’t one large restaurant, but rather smaller places to pick up tasty treats along the way during your visit.
We tried lots of tasty treats. When we first arrived, we started out our visit by trying Dutch stroopwafels!
We also enjoyed strawberries with fresh cream.
We even had a delicious fresh melon juice and ended the (chilly!) day with a hot veggie soup.
We saw so many gorgeous and fragrant flowers.
We loved the interesting varieties!
These tulips reminded me of lace!
We loved this trip and highly recommend a visit!
You can get more information about visiting on the Keukenhof Garden website.
