Tartiflette (French Potatoes and Cheese)

Description

Classic French tartiflette is the creamy, cheesy French Winter feast you’ve been looking for.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs of potatoes
  • 1 onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 tsp of Herbes de Provence
  • 1/2 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup of cream
  • 1/2 reblochon cheese (cut into strips)
  • 1/2 cup of Serrano ham (diced)
  • 1/2 cup of white wine
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Arugula and our 3 ingredient French Vinaigrette (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Cook the potatoes in a large pot of water until you can easily put a fork in them.
  2. Remove from the water.
  3. Remove the skin of the potatoes and slice them into 1/2 inch slices.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan on high heat.
  5. Add the potatoes and onion and cook for 4 minutes.
  6. Add the herbs, garlic, a pinch of salt and ground black pepper.
  7. Continue to cook until lightly browned.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  9. In a loaf tin (or a cake tin) put a layer of potatoes/onion.
  10. Add a third of the cream.
  11. Add a third of cheese.
  12. Sprinkle a third of the ham.
  13. Add a layer of potatoes and continue with cream, cheese, ham, potatoes, cream, cheese, ham.
  14. Pour the white wine.
  15. Put in oven for 30 minutes until the cheese grills.
  16. Serve with arugula and our 3 ingredient French vinaigrette.

Wine Recommendation : Jean-Max Roger Pouilly-Fume Cuvee Les Alouettes 2015
We highly recommend this dry white wine to use in the recipe and also to serve with the tartiflette.
