Sweet potato pizza ingredients
- Medium sweet potato
- Organic pizza dough
- Ricotta cheese
- Fresh mozzarella
- Small red onion
- Indian powdered hot chili powder
- Olive oil
- Arugula
Nothing brings people together around the table like a cheesy, delicious, homemade pizza! One of our favorite seasonal Fall ingredients is sweet potato. It’s packed with flavour and we use it in our favorite soups, pizzas, rice dishes, pasta dishes and serve it as a side to fish and meat recipes. We stock up on sweet potatoes at our local Parisian market, the Marché d’Aligre, where we are lucky to have several organic fruit and veggie choices.
How to make sweet potato pizza from scratch
- Step 1 – Heat olive oil in a frying pan on low-medium heat.
- Step 2 – Add the sweet potato cubes, a pinch of salt, ground black pepper and a half teaspoon of hot chili powder and cook for 20 minutes. Put aside.
- Step 3 – Preheat oven to 530°F (275°C).
- Step 4 – Unroll the pizza dough on the backing tray.
- Step 5 – Mix ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and the rest of the hot chili powder.
- Step 6 – Spread the ricotta cheese over the pizza dough.
- Step 7 – Sprinkle a half teaspoon of ground black pepper over the ricotta.
- Step 8 – Add the sweet potato cubes.
- Step 9 – Top the sweet potatoes with the mozzarella.
- Step 10 – Next, add the red onion.
- Step 11 – Bake in the oven until the dough is well cooked (5 and 10 minutes).
- Step 12 – Remove from oven and top with arugula to serve.
Tips to make the perfect sweet potato pizza
- As always, use the best quality ingredients you can find to make the pizza. Quality ingredients will always make the end product taste even better! We suggest using organic ingredients as often as you can.
- Use fresh, buffala mozzarella for the best flavor.
Add your own twist to this sweet potato pizza
- We used a pre-made, organic pizza crust from the health food store here in Paris, but you could absolutely make your own as well. We love this easy homemade pizza dough recipe.
- Based on the cheeses you love, you could replace the mozzarella with another cheese or add another cheese or two for extra cheesiness.
- Add extra veggies to this tasty vegetarian pizza. We have added mushrooms, zucchini and asparagus to this pizza in the past.
- For extra color, flavor and vitamins, top your pizza with arugula.

Ingredients
- 1 medium sweet potato of 1 lb (peeled and cubed)
- 1 organic pre-made pizza dough
- 1 cup of ricotta cheese
- 1 ball of fresh buffala mozzarella (cut into large slices)
- 1 small red onion (sliced)
- 1 tsp of hot chili powder
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- Olive oil
- Arugula (to serve)
Instructions
