Things to Do in Summer in Paris
There are so many fun things to do in Paris this Summer! These are some of our best ideas to make the most of your time in Paris this Summer, whether you are visiting for the first time or the tenth time, or even if you live here like we do!
Experience a Parisian river cruise on the Seine
We never tire of sailing down the Seine! I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve taking a river cruise on the Seine at this point. Seeing Paris is absolutely magical – whether it’s your first time visiting Paris or your tenth… or even if you live here!

Book a beautiful hotel
Choosing where to stay during your trip to Paris at any time of year is important, because the place you choose to stay will have an impact on the overall enjoy you experience during your trip.
I love booking us a hotel with a pool when we travel during the Summer. It’s so nice to be able to come back to the hotel after a day of sightseeing, eating and shopping and to be able to relax and cool down in a nice hotel pool.
If you live in Paris, why not go all out and book a cheeky staycation? Bonus points if you time your staycation with one of the hottest days of Summer, since you’ll be able to take advantage of the hotel’s sweet, sweet air conditioning in addition to other amenities.
Hôtel d’Aubusson*
(*The Hôtel d’Aubusson is currently closed and will reopen in Summer 2026!)
This stunning hotel is one of my absolute favorites in Paris. Not only is the location spectacular in the 6th arrondissement, the hotel features a beautiful and luxurious pool and one of the best hotel bars in all of Paris. This address is confidential. The hotel bar is one of the best kept secret’s of the well-heeled clients of the surrounding neighborhood.
Even if you don’t stay here, pop in for a glass of wine. They make a particularly fabulous kir. If you go in the evening, you can enjoy live jazz with your drink.
Book your room at the Hôtel d’Aubusson here!
Maison Souquet
This may be the most romantic and sensual hotel in Paris. It used to be a brothel, just getting that out there. Today, it is an exquisite hotel property located in the trendy 9th arrondissement, near the SoPi area where we lived for several years and where you can take advantage of the adorable shops and foodie spots on the rue des Martyrs, as well as my favorite coffee shop in Paris, KB Cakeshop.
Maison Souquet’s rooms are lavishly decorated in rich, jewel-toned velvet. There is a gorgeous pool and an exclusive and beautiful hotel bar where you can enjoy tasty cocktails and a light meal.
Book your room at the Maison Souquet here!
Maison Proust
The new Maison Proust has the most stunning pool and spa, making it an excellent hotel choice for Summer stays when you want to incorporate some pool time into your trip. There is also a wellness center, sauna and terrace that you can enjoy as a guest of the hotel.
Whether you choose to stay at Maison Proust or not, make sure you make a reservation for a meal at their fabulous restaurant. You can also pop into their sumptuous bar for a cocktail.
Book your room at the Maison Proust here!
Hôtel de l’Abbaye
Another chic, under the radar Parisian hotel is the Hôtel de l’Abbaye. Like the Hôtel d’Aubusson, it is located in the chic 6th arrondissement.
Summer is the perfect time to visit because you can enjoy breakfast in the exclusive hotel garden. It feels like stepping into an elegant countess’ Parisian secret garden. In fact, everything in this hotel feels like you’ve been invited over to an exquisite Parisian Hôtel Particulier.
Every room is decorated with sumptuous fabrics like toile de jouy, velvet and silk. Furnishing are antique. I would happily move into this hotel to be honest.
Book your room at the Hôtel de l’Abbaye here!
Hôtel La Comtesse
This one is the most affordable option on this list. What I love most about this hotel is that there are Eiffel Tower views from ALL of the rooms!

Of the hotels on this list, Hôtel d’Aubusson, Maison Souquet, and Maison Proust have pools, making them great choices for a Summer trip to Paris!
Take a behind-the-scenes bakery tour with breakfast
There are so many fantastic food tours to enjoy during your time in Paris. It can be hard which ones to participate in if you have limited time. (If you don’t have limited time, please go ahead and do them all!)
If you are working with limited time and you want only the best, you can’t go wrong with this behind-the-scenes bakery tour with breakfast.
Imagine being able to sit at your desk and dream about when you spent the morning touring an authentic Parisian bakery followed by munching on delicious croissants, pain au chocolat and a variety of breads, when you go back to work after your vacation!

Visit a Parisian garden
One of our all-time favorite Summer activities in Paris is to spend time in one of the many beautiful gardens Paris has on offer.
Visit one of the gardens from the list below or visit them all :
- Jardin des Plantes
- Tuileries
- Parc Monceau
- Place des Vosges
- Luxembourg Gardens
- Palais Royal

See an exhibit
There are so many wonderful exhibits on at the moment in Paris! Paris is a fantastic place to take advantage of museums any time of year. This Summer there are several special exhibits you don’t want to miss, in addition to the must-see Paris museums for your trip.
Bonus : museums are one of the only places with air conditioning in Paris, so take advantage of seeing a fantastic exhibit and cooling down simultaneously.
The Louvre
In addition to the fabulous permanent collections at the Louvre, there are some really fantastic exhibits going on this Summer.
Michelangelo and Rodin
If you are visiting Paris this Summer, make sure you make time to visit the Michelangelo and Rodin exhibit at the Louvre. It is on until July 20th, 2026.
We are members of the Louvre and go at least once a week. There is so much to see and take in!
Walk through the temporary exhibit first, then head to other parts of the Louvre to visit the Louvre highlights (the Mona Lisa, the Code of Hammurabi, Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People, the Seated Scribe, the Italian Renaissance paintings, etc.)
Rodin Museum
The Rodin Museum is one of my favorite museums any time of year but it is especially magical during the Summer when the roses are in bloom in the rose garden.
Visit the collection inside Rodin’s house and make sure you save some time to have a coffee in the sweet little cafe in the garden followed by a walk around the garden to admire Rodin’s sculptures and the stunning, fragrant roses in bloom.
We both love this museum so much that we are members and often pop in on a Sunday morning, sometimes just for a quick walk in the garden. In this case we ask for the coffee from the cafe “à emporter” (to go) and sip it as we walk around the garden admiring Rodin’s sculptures.
Book your ticket for the Rodin Museum here!
Musée d’Orsay
The Musée d’Orsay is one of the most iconic museums to visit during your time in Paris. There are always fantastic temporary exhibits going on, in addition to their permanent collections.
This Summer you can enjoy an exhibit dedicated to Renoir : “Renoir and Love : A Joyful Modernity (1865-1885).
Book your ticket to the Musée d’Orsay here!
Musée d’Art Moderne
The permanent collection at the Musée d’Art Moderne is free to enter. Make sure you stop in to see the gorgeous Dufy room!
Created in 1937 for the Universal Exhibition, Dufy’s “The Electricity Fairy” is composed of 250 massive panels! It is truly stunning and not to be missed. The painted panels tell the story of electricity, from two perspectives : electricity in the time of Archimedes and electricity in the modern day (the 1930s).
Enjoy a Parisian cafe
There are so many fabulous cafes in Paris. How do you choose where to go? To help with the overwhelm, we broke down the best coffeeshops in Paris by neighborhood.
Want a quick recap of the best coffee shops you don’t want to miss in Paris?
Our top 5 are KB Cakeshop, Partisan Cafe, Kitsune, Yellow Tucan and Dose.

Visit the Arc de Triomphe rooftop at sunset
Climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe to gain an incredible view over Paris. The view is especially magical at sunset.
Book your ticket to visit the Arc de Triomphe at sunset here!
Have a glass of Champagne and macarons at the Eiffel Tower
There are few locations more iconically Paris than the Eiffel Tower. Book your ticket to take the elevator to the summit and treat yourself to a glass of Champagne and a small box of macarons to amplify the joy of the moment. (The link below is to book your skip-the-line Eiffel Tower ticket. You can purchase the Champagne and macarons when you get there.)
Psst, even in Summer, I recommend you bring a scarf! It can get cold and windy at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

Learn to make macarons
Speaking of macarons… why not learn how to make them during your Parisian adventure so that you can keep making them once you get home? Galeries Lafayette offers a course that will teach you how to make macarons step-by-step that has fantastic reviews!

Take a walk and go for ice cream
There are many places to go for tasty ice cream in Paris.
These are our favorite spots!
Berthillon
The ultimate Parisian ice cream experience can be had at Berthillon! They are actually most famous for their sorbet, but they also have delicious ice cream flavors too.
If you are lucky enough to visit Paris during fraise des bois (wild strawberry) season and you fraise des bois sorbet on the flavor menu, make sure you get it! It is divine.
Bachir
Bachir makes authentic Lebanese achta ice cream. It is beautiful and delicious.
Une Glace à Paris
Une Glace à Paris make rich and creamy ice cream in a variety of flavors.
Our favorite flavor is riz au lait (rice pudding).
Glazed
When Glazed first opened, we actually lived practically next door, so indulged in several of their flavors each Summer, all Summer long.
They have the most unusual ice cream flavors of all the ice cream shops on this list.
Amorino
I remember when Amorino first opened in Paris in 2002. The concept was simple : really good Italian gelato in Paris. The first Amorino boutique was on the Ile Saint-Louis. They have since expanded all over Paris and all over the world and their gelato remains just as good and authentic.
Our favorite flavors are the Inimitable (a mix of chocolat and hazelnut gelato, similar to Nutella), Stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate shavings), salted butter caramel and their organic Sicilian lemon sorbet.
All their flavors are delicious through so you really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. Add a frozen macaron on top of your ice cream to make it even more delicious and even more Instagrammable!
Go wine tasting
Paris is a wonderful place to taste, and learn about, wine.
These are our favorite wine bars in Paris.

Experience a food and wine tour in the Marais
We always get asked about food tours in Paris. A food tour is such a fun way to experience Paris through your stomach.
This food tour in the Marais offers 11 food tastings and 2 wine tastings which is an incredible value for the price of the tour. The Marais is one of my favorite areas in Paris (I lived there for 6 years before Hugo and I moved in together) and it is a great location to taste phenomenal French food.

Record your memories with a Parisian photoshoot
It is so special to have great photos from a trip. Selfies are nice but nothing beats having professional photos to enjoy after you trip, or even to have printed and framed to display in your home.

Paris in the Summer : 7 Reasons to Visit Paris in Summer
- Summer is the perfect season to enjoy long nighttime walks along the Seine.
- The warm weather is excellent for sitting at a sidewalk cafe with a glass of wine.
- All of the gorgeous flowers are in bloom in Paris’ prettiest and most iconic gardens, such as the Palais Royal, Jardin des Tuileries, Place des Vosges, Jardin des Plantes and the Luxembourg Gardens.
- You can get a scoop of ice cream and enjoy it as you walk around Paris.
- The sun sets later in the Summer giving you even more time to explore each day.
- Summer is the only season you can experience Paris Plage when the banks of the Seine become a city beach!
- Everyone is out walking their dog at all time of the day and night. People watching is at its max!
Paris in Summer : what to wear
Summer can be a weird season to dress for in Paris. You are never guaranteed warm weather or dry weather in Paris, so even if you are visiting during the Summer months, it’s important to have some items of clothing that would help you stay warm and feel comfortable if it’s cool and/or raining.
My recommendation for dressing in Paris in all season is : layers! Layers are your best friend in Paris. Layers will save you from being cold when the temperature drops all of a sudden during the day or when you go out for a late night walk along the Seine after dinner, layers will keep you dry when it rains for three hours in the afternoon and layers will save you from melting when the temperature turns tropical at a moment’s notice.
I dress in neutrals mostly with pops of color. You do you, but large floral prints and bright colors are unusual in Paris.
During the Summer, I tend to wear skirts and dresses in black, white, brown, beige, cream and small florals. I pair skirts with a cute top. I typically have a sweater over my shoulders or in my handbag.
I don’t really wear blue jeans but I always have a nice pair of black jeans, black pants and white jeans in my wardrobe and may pull these out on cooler Summer days in Paris.
For shoes, I wear mostly these flat leather sandals that I order on Etsy (they’re handmade in Greece!). I’ve ordered them for the past three or four years in a variety of models and colors and I loooove them! They are so elegant, comfortable and well made.
I walk a lot (20K+ steps per day on concrete) and also inevitably get caught in the rain (hello Paris life!) so I wear them out and typically toss and replace at the end of the Summer, but if you walk less than I do, they will probably last much longer.
I wear strappy leather sandals for an evening out and I wear rain boots for really rainy days all year long.
Complete your outfit with a cute bag and you’re all set! I’m obsessed with this handmade Italian leather mini bag with bamboo handle that I’ve been carrying all Summer!
How to get around during Summer in Paris
Walk!
Walking is always my first choice in terms of ways to get around Paris. It is such a beautiful city and there are few things we love more than walking from one end of the city to the next on a beautiful day! If you have some extra time, head out in any direction and let your intuition guide you towards somewhere fabulous.
Take the metro
If you don’t have time to walk, take the metro. Our metro system in Paris is fast and efficient, relatively clean. You get pretty much anywhere in the city via the metro.
Take an uber
If you’re dressed up and wearing uncomfortable shoes, or carrying lots of shopping bags after a day out, take an uber. Just remember, unless it’s very early in the morning or very late at night, you will probably get where you need to go much faster by taking the metro rather than taking an uber.
Take the Batobus
For a beautiful, relaxing and unusual way to get around Paris in the Summer, take a boat! It is so nice and relaxing to sit down on the Batobus, enjoy Paris from the water while also getting to your destination.
The route for the Batobus is quite short, so it may or may not be useful for getting from point A to point B for you depending on where you’re going, but even if you only take the Batobus for fun, it’s definitely trying at least once during your trip!
