Sourdough Pancakes

Does the thought of sourdough pancakes make your mouth water? Do you have a vision of a beautiful breakfast of pancakes, fresh fruits, butter and maple syrup? Hold that though because today we have perfectly fluffy, absolutely decadently delicious sourdough pancakes for you! This is part of our collection of sourdough discard recipes.

In addition to being delicious, sourdough has numerous health benefits so these pancakes are both scrumptious and healthy. Win win. You can also easily make these on a lazy Sunday morning, with a handful of ingredients you probably already have on hand at home. They are so good!

Sourdough Pancakes Ingredients

  • Flour
  • Baking powder
  • Milk
  • Egg
  • Sourdough
  • Butter

How to Make Sourdough Pancakes

  • Step 1 – Put the flour and the baking powder in large bowl.
  • Step 2 – Pour the milk in, little by little, while mixing with a tablespoon.
  • Step 3 – Add the egg and the sourdough and mix.
  • Step 4 – Add the melted butter and mix.
  • Step 5 – Leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  • Step 6 – Heat a teaspoon of butter in a little frying pan over medium heat.
  • Step 7 – Pour in a ladle of pancake batter and cook until little wells appear.
  • Step 8 – Flip the pancake over and cook for 30 more seconds.
  • Step 9 – Serve with maple syrup, raspberries and blueberries.

Tips

  • Double check the freshness of your baking powder. Fresh baking powder is the key to fluffy pancakes!
  • Avoid the temptation to over mix. Over mixing will lead to pancakes that are not as fluffy, so careful not to over mix.
  • Wipe out the pan between batches. This keep your pancakes from burning.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 2/3 cup of milk
