Do you love looking for unique and interesting places to stay when your travel? Of course you do, that’s why you read our blog! We have an amazing space to share with you today and we’re so excited. We slept in a Paris grocery store! Not just any grocery store – a tradition Parisian grocery store – or épicerie – that has been converted into a luxury hotel suite, thanks to the Paris Boutik hotel concept. We can’t wait to tell you all about our romantic stay.

The Paris Boutik Concept
The Paris Boutik concept is to offer “suites urbaines” or beautiful luxury suites that give you the chance to sleep in a converted space of some sort. The suite where we stayed was a traditional, authentic small grocery store or épicerie (Paris grocery store).
The lovely owners of Paris Boutik left us a complimentary bottle of Champagne which we enjoyed in the evening after coming back to the Paris grocery store suite (more on that in a moment). They also left us a guide to Paris with lots of ideas for restaurants, activities and more to enjoy in Paris.
What it’s actually like to sleep in a Paris grocery store
When you walk in, you are greeted by a gorgeous open space, loft-style duplex suite. On the ground floor, is a gorgeous salon and small, open, kitchen. It’s hard to believe that you are standing in a Paris grocery store that has been converted into a luxury suite!
Downstairs, you’ll find the bedroom space (with a luxurious, beautiful, super comfy bed!) and a Heavenly bathroom, complete with a deluxe tub. (I was especially excited to see this. If you have been following along for a while, you know how much I love a good bath!)
When you enter, right in front of you, are gorgeous shelves filled with all kinds of traditional French brands that you may know if you grew up in France or if, like me, you spent time here as a child. These are brands that the French know and love and grew up with. Hugo was feeling nostalgic as he looked at the products all around us – tins of cookies, conserves, salted caramels, mustards and other sauces and more.
The area around La Suite Epicérie
The épicerie suite is located in the 12th arrondissement, a 2 minute walk from the Gare de Lyon, a 5 minute walk from our favorite Parisian market, the Marché d’Aligre, and a 10 minute walk from Bastille.
If you book this gorgeous suite, make sure you go to the Marché d’Aligre for early morning white wine and oysters. This is one of our favorite experiences in Paris and we do it regularly. It has become a Sunday morning tradition.
Enjoying the Paris Boutik concept à deux
We believe this is a wonderful place to stay as a couple and you know why?
Everything about this suite is romantic. The loungy atmosphere invites you to cuddle on the couch, the sweet table and chairs call for you to enjoy croissants and hot coffee with your love, the gorgeous tub longs for you to soak in it and the comfy bed is the perfect spot to rest your head and chat all night long.
Feeling chez soi in Paris
It was pouring outside the night we stayed in the épicerie suite. We had so much fun exploring the area around the hotel and were thrilled to have a cozy place in the neighborhood to come back to, to enjoy a cuddly evening in.
On our way back to the suite, we popped into a local sushi place, took out a generous amount of Japanese food (sushi, maki, chirashi, green ice cream mocha – our current obsession – in case you were wondering) and came back to our home away from home to watch tv, munch on Japanese food and drink the lovely Champagne that had been gifted to us. We couldn’t have wished for a more perfect evening.
You too can sleep in a Paris grocery store or… in a Paris bookshop!
Paris Boutik offers other suites as well. We hear you can even sleep in a Paris bookshop (this time in the Marais).
Thank you to the team at Paris Boutik for collaborating with us for this Paris hotel review.
