Shhh, we have a fabulous pastry secret! We have discovered the most delicious lemon meringue tart in Paris… at Paris Baguette. Have you heard of this delicious pastry shop and bakery just steps away from the Seine?
What do you like to do on the weekend? Hugo and I love to stroll the streets of our favorite city, Paris, discovering new places and trying new foods. One chilly afternoon we stumbled upon Paris Baguette and the rest is sweet, decedant lemon meringue history…
Paris Baguette is a Korean bakery + pastry shop in Paris. They serve a variety of traditional French breads and pastries – with their own special twist.
Take a look!
It all started in 2014 with their first bakery in the heart of Paris – in the 1st arrondissement. Their philosophy is simple : really good, beautifully mounted, French pastries offered in impeccable style in a Parisian bakery – pastry shop – café in the heart of the city of love.
I love this neighborhood because it was where I lived when I first moved to Paris. I remember feeling so excited to finally be living in Paris – my lifelong dream – and to have my very own little loft apartment in a historical Parisian building in the heart of the city. That apartment had original wooden ceilin beams (the highly coveted “poutres apparentes” you hear about when searching for an authentic Parisian apartment), a lovely skylight and a bathtub (very unusual in Paris) that I could see from my bed as there was no divide between bedroom and “bathtub area”. Some of you reading this may remember that apartment…
Going back to this neighborhood always reminds me of those days, the excitement of arriving in Paris and how incredible it is that even after 14 years in Paris, I am just as passionate about the city as ever – even more so!
When you arrive at 11 rue Jean Lantier, you will be tempted to order everything you see! We definitely were. It is hard to narrow down the selection and try just one or two things. (This is part of why we live in Paris – we would never have enough time to taste everything we wanted to taste if we were just simple visiting.) We absolutely recommend that you visit though – or move here like we did – and try absolutely everything you can while you’re here. You won’t be disappointed!
We decided to try the tarte au citron méringuée (lemon tart + meringue topping) and an éclair au chocolat (chocolate éclair). (The chocolate éclair drew up is partially because it looked amazing and partially because we are taste testing chocolaté éclairs at the moment to put together a round-up of the 10 best éclairs in Paris. Stayed tuned for that!)
Paris Baguette is the perfect mix of old world Parisian and modern day Paris. You can eat modern creations with a twist while sitting in the historical center of Paris in the 1st arrondissement surrounded by “moulures anciennes” (those gorgeous ceiling mouldings that you can find in the prettiest spots in Paris) and lovely blue and grey floor tiles.
Lemon Meringue Tart at Paris Baguette
This has to be one of the best lemon meringue tarts we have ever tried! Creamy with just the right amount of lemon tartness and those gorgeous meringue peaks! Heavenly!
It is also just the right size for one or two (if sharing another dessert – which we did!).
Every bite is a taste of Heaven!
Chocolate Eclair at Paris Baguette
Being us, we couldn’t sit down for just ONE dessert at Paris Baguette! We decided to share two desserts!
The chocolate éclair was rich and creamy and bursting with dark chocolate flavor. We absolutely loved it! (BTW, we are working on a round-up of our favorite chocolate éclairs in Paris which we will be sharing with you soon. It’s difficult work – but someone’s gotta do it!)
