Le Meurice opened in 1885 under the arches of the rue de Rivoli in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. It had a reputation of being the “hotel des rois”, as many members of the British royal family have stayed there. The opulent Ducasse restaurant and Salon Pompadour were added in 1907 and they are absolutely stunning!

If you choose to stay here (or even if you don’t), you have to make sure to book tea time in the Dali Salon so that you can enjoy the hotel’s beautiful decoration and furnishings and taste Cédric Grolet’s famous trompe-l’oeil pastries.

I had the intense joy of staying at Le Bristol over Easter one year and it was a dream. The hotel is exactly what you would expect from a French palace – refined, sophisticated and beautiful.
