Notes from a French wedding in Brittany

We had the honor of celebrating our friends Elodie and GaĂ«l this past weekend. They celebrated their love and union with a beautiful outdoor ceremony (where Hugo played “Is This Love? on a ukulele!), a lovely “vin d’honneur” (champagne cocktail), a delicious Brittany-themed dinner and an all-night dance party!

It was a wonderful celebration and we loved every moment! We are such romantics and we love celebrating LOVE. Weddings are our place. We always get teared up when the bride and groom exchange their vows. 🙂 So sweet. This wedding was particularly tender as the couple is so darling – they are huge romantics too and everything about their wedding was sweet and personal.

We were touched because the wedding was full of personal touches – homemade dĂ©corations and memory-making activities such as romantic postcards to fill out as keepsakes for the newlyweds.

It was such as pleasure to be present at this wedding in Brittany with our lovely friends!

If you are planning a trip to Brittany, there are some foodie treats that you absolutely MUST try :

  • Galette complète (the traditional French galette from Brittany : filled with ham and cheese and topped with an egg).
  • Galette saucisse (their version of a hot dog – a delicious sausage rolled up in a galette). Check out our buckwheat galette recipe to make your own.
  • Kouign-Amann (pronounced kwinaman).

The Kouign-Amann we had the pleasure of eating :

What is a Kouign-Amann? It is a flaky, buttery, pastry that it typically “Bretonne” (from the Brittany region of France).

The couple’s personal wedding touches :

Homemade mini jam with darling, handmade labels reading “WITH LOVE”. (Awww.)

Gorgeous postcards to write a sweet message to the happy couple. This is the one we chose :

We loved our trip to Brittany and we loved celebrating our fabulous friends and their beautiful decision to spend their lives together! ♥

Have you been to Brittany? Where did you go? What did you see? What did you eat? We would LOVE to hear from you! ♥
