Le Palace de Menthon – A Luxury Stay on Lake Annecy

The beautiful Palace de Menthon is a 5 star hotel on the shores of Lake Annecy, in the stunning town of Menthon-Saint-Bernard. Menthon-Saint-Bernard and Lake Annecy are located in the Haute Savoie. This part of France is absolutely stunning, making a trip to the Palace de Menthon ideal for a special stay.

We aren’t the only ones who think it’s gorgeous! We laughed because we had just gotten back from our trip when we were watching L’Agence on Netflix and the Palace de Menthon was featured as the hotel where the brothers stayed on Lake Annecy when they were showing one of their lakeside mansions that is for sale!

Le Palace de Menthon : The room

Le Palace de Methon has forest-facing and lake-facing rooms. We were staying in a beautiful room with a view over Lake Annecy. The room was lovely with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a good size and had a nice selection of toiletries. All the rooms of the hotel are dog-friendly as well which is important to us as we had our pups with us.

My favorite part of the room though was the incredible view over Lake Annecy! Isn’t the view over the lake breathtaking?

It was stunning at all times of the day, but especially as the sun was beginning to set!

Le Palace de Menthon : The spa

The hotel spa offers huge bay windows with a view over the lake and features a heated pool, sauna, hammam and solarium. They also offer massages and yoga classes on request!

It’s the perfect place to start your day before you head out to explore or to relax your tired feet when you get home from a day of exploring the villages along the lake. (March 2O22 – the spa is currently closed until May 2022 for a huge renovation, so make sure to check before you book.)

Le Palace de Menthon : The bar & restaurant

We went for a romantic drink at the bar of the hotel. You can have a glass of wine or a cocktail in the bar accompanied by some light plates, such as a selection of cheeses or charcuterie. I loved the decor in the bar. The bar is stunning, the plush velvet chairs are beautiful and the view over the lake from the bar is breathtaking.

We had a pre-dinner drink and then stopped by the bar again after dinner for a hot chocolate before bed.

The hotel restaurant is a gastronomic restaurant focused on fresh fish and other local ingredients. There is also a panoramic view of the lake from the restaurant. Formal dress is required to access the restaurant.

We skipped the restaurant this time because, although the rooms are dog-friendly, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant and we preferred to have the dogs with us during the entirety of our stay.

I definitely recommend you book a meal in the restaurant to enjoy fresh fish and other local ingredients.

We went out in the evening and walked along the grounds of the hotel at night. As it was January, it was quite cold but the lake and garden are still beautiful and we enjoyed our walk, all bundled up.

The hotel looked beautiful all lit up in the dark.

Luxury Hotel on Lake Annecy

The hotel is ideally located along Lake Annecy. This part of France is absolutely stunning! If you are staying in the Palace de Menthon, in Menthon-Saint-Bernard, you are about a 15 minute drive from Annecy which is on the opposite side of the same lake, Lake Annecy.

We went for a romantic walk along Lake Annecy…

We also made some new friends with the sheep down the road.
