We had the joy of going to Karamel Paris recently and it was wonderful. Pastry chef Nicolas Haelewyn, set out to create a beautiful pastry shop and tea salon with a heart of caramel. This young chef created the Karamel Paris brand as an hommage to his childhood in Normandy and it has quickly become one of the best cafes in Paris. Before creating Karamel Paris, Haelewyn worked for Ladurée, and as their International head pastry chef for 5 years.
Karamel Paris
**Karamel has unfortunately closed. However, we’ve heard an e-shop that will sell their delicious treats is in the works.**
In the heart of the 7th arrondissement, near Invalides and Ecole Militaire, is every caramel lover’s paradise…
Step inside and prepare to be taken away to pure caramel Heaven. Caramel pastries, caramel viennoiseries and caramel coffee drinks await…
Is there anything better than salted caramel? It is just so good. If you’d like to make your own salted caramel at home, we love this salted caramel recipe.
When we arrived at Karamel, we made our order up at the counter and then walked past the beautiful antique record player and into the sweet little salon. We decided to enjoy our caramel treats up at the counter so that we could chat while also people watching and really getting a feel for the ambiance at Karamel, Paris.
We ordered lots of caramel filled treats. A caramel cappuccino…
And caramel flan…
And a croissant filled with caramel pastry cream!
We also discovered these lovely little meringue tarts which we will definitely try next time we go.
