  • 5 large white or cremini mushrooms
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil

We love the simplicity of this mushroom recipe. These fried mushrooms are a healthier alternative to deep fried mushrooms, or battered mushrooms. They are so good on their own or tossed into salads, in tacos or as a tasty addition to your favorite sandwich.

Tips to make breaded mushrooms :

  • Make sure to not overcook the mushrooms. 2 minutes on each side is plenty.
  • Remove excess oil using a paper towel.

Make these breaded mushrooms your own :

  • Add garlic to make garlic breaded mushrooms.
  • Toss in your favorite herbs to add some extra flavor to these mushrooms.
  • Add some spice to make spicy breaded mushrooms.

Here in Paris, we buy our mushrooms at the Marché d’Aligre. It’s our favorite market in Paris. They have a selection of organic vegetables, freshly cut flowers, cheeses, meats and fish. We typically also leave with at least one handful of mushrooms.
