Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta

We’ve been making this Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta on repeat. It’s creamy, filled with flavor, absolutely delicious and one of our absolute favorite dinners. If you love easy pasta dishes, make this Jerk Shrimp Pasta and this Shrimp Alfredo next!

Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta ingredients

  • Penne rigate
  • Chicken breast (cut in chunks)
  • Shrimp
  • Chorizo (sliced)
  • Chicken stock
  • Onion (chopped)
  • Red bell pepper (chopped)
  • Garlic clove (crushed)
  • Large mushrooms (chopped)
  • Tomato (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of tomato paste
  • Cajun spices
  • Oregano
  • Butter
  • Olive oil
  • Basil or parsley
creamy Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta

How to make cajun chicken and shrimp pasta step by step

  1. Mix the chicken with a tablespoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of butter on medium high heat in a large frying pan until brown colored.
  3. Add the chicken, cook for 4 minutes.
  4. Mix the shrimp with a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
  5. Add the shrimp and chorizo with the chicken and cook for 4 minutes. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
  6. Mix the chicken stock with a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
  7. Add a tablespoon of butter in the same frying pan and cook the onion with a pinch of salt on medium heat for 3 minutes.
  8. Add the red bell pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
  9. Add a tablespoon of stock.
  10. Add the garlic and cook for a minute.
  11. Add the mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes.
  12. Add the tomato, the tomato paste and the rest of the stock and cook for 2 minutes.
  13. Add the chicken, shrimp and chorizo and let simmer for 10 minutes on low heat.
  14. Meanwhile, cook the penne in a large pot of water. When it’s done, put the penne in the frying pan and cook for a minute.
  15. Serve with basil or parsley on the top.

Make this cajun chicken and shrimp pasta your own

  • Swap out the chicken or shrimp and add more veggies. You could definitely leave out the chicken and/or shrimp in this recipe if you would prefer to make a vegetarian version of this pasta dish. Some ideas? Add some broccoli, mushrooms and/or cauliflower to make this pasta recipe vegetarian.
  • Make chicken shrimp sausage pasta by tossing in some sausage.

Description

Creamy and delicious Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Pasta is the perfect dish for lunch or dinner!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces of penne rigate 
  • 1 chicken breast (cut into chunks)
  • 1/2 lbs of shrimp
  • 1 inch of chorizo (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup of chicken stock
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1 little red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1 garlic clove (crushed)
  • 2 large mushrooms (chopped)
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 4 tsp of Cajun spices
  • 1 tsp of oregano
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Olive oil
  • Basil or parsley
