Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta ingredients
- Penne rigate
- Chicken breast (cut in chunks)
- Shrimp
- Chorizo (sliced)
- Chicken stock
- Onion (chopped)
- Red bell pepper (chopped)
- Garlic clove (crushed)
- Large mushrooms (chopped)
- Tomato (chopped)
- 1 tbsp of tomato paste
- Cajun spices
- Oregano
- Butter
- Olive oil
- Basil or parsley
How to make cajun chicken and shrimp pasta step by step
- Mix the chicken with a tablespoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
- Heat a tablespoon of butter on medium high heat in a large frying pan until brown colored.
- Add the chicken, cook for 4 minutes.
- Mix the shrimp with a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
- Add the shrimp and chorizo with the chicken and cook for 4 minutes. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
- Mix the chicken stock with a teaspoon of Cajun mix.
- Add a tablespoon of butter in the same frying pan and cook the onion with a pinch of salt on medium heat for 3 minutes.
- Add the red bell pepper and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add a tablespoon of stock.
- Add the garlic and cook for a minute.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the tomato, the tomato paste and the rest of the stock and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the chicken, shrimp and chorizo and let simmer for 10 minutes on low heat.
- Meanwhile, cook the penne in a large pot of water. When it’s done, put the penne in the frying pan and cook for a minute.
- Serve with basil or parsley on the top.
Make this cajun chicken and shrimp pasta your own
- Swap out the chicken or shrimp and add more veggies. You could definitely leave out the chicken and/or shrimp in this recipe if you would prefer to make a vegetarian version of this pasta dish. Some ideas? Add some broccoli, mushrooms and/or cauliflower to make this pasta recipe vegetarian.
