Love Paris? Live in Paris? Dream about Paris? I was in love with Paris before I ever moved here and spent many days daydreaming about my future life here… sitting in cute coffee shops in Parisian, wearing a sweet dress and a beret. So, I don’t wear berets every day but I do absolutely adore sitting in all of the Parisian cafes featured on this list! Make sure you add this awesome list of the best coffee shops in Paris to your Paris bucket list! Between stops at the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay, you’ll need some fabulous specialty coffee!

The Best Coffee Shops in Paris
What is more romantic, or more quintessentially Parisian, than sitting in a cute coffeeshop in Paris, sipping an espresso with the one you love, looking out over the beautiful Parisian streets? Sitting in Parisian cafes is right up there with my absolute favorite thing to do. If you are looking for me, I am probably sitting in a Parisian coffee shop and most of the articles you read on this blog were probably written in a Parisian cafe. In fact, I begin each and every morning with a stop at one of the cafes on this list.
I have always been fascinated by the love affair that so many painters, writers and other artists have enjoyed with Paris over the years. I particularly love imagining Hemingway at the Café de Flore sitting with his friends F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Getrude Stein sitting down for an espresso and a croissant or Picasso wandering the streets and popping into a cafe in Paris for a hot cup of coffee and a tartine (baguette with salted butter).
There has been a new wave of coffee that has rushed through the city over the past several years. Whereas when I first moved to Paris back in 2002, the only coffee options were an espresso court/serré (a tight espresso, with very little water) or an espresso allongé (with a little more water), today you can find a wide variety of coffees to choose from, today you will be able to enjoy your cappuccino, latte, filtered coffee, Americano, cortado or even mocha fix with no problem.
We love all of the cafes in Paris featured on this list. I have organized them based on where they are in the city so that you can easily find a great cup of coffee no matter where you happen to be exploring on any given day. I promise to keep this list updated so that you can be sure to choose the cafes you want to visit during your time in Paris without worrying about any unwelcome surprises (like a cafe that has closed but is still on this list). Make sure to pin this post for future reference.
We did a lot of (tasty) research to put together this ultimate list of the best cafes in paris for you! Click on the name of each cafe to read our full review of the coffee shop. If the title is not clickable, it means we haven’t written a full review yet but it is on its way! Watch this space.
All Parisian cafes that are also work-friendly meaning they have free wifi, the space to comfortably sit and work for a while and won’t kick you out, are marked with a little laptop computer under the title.

Cafe Kitsune
Not a weekend goes by that we don’t stop at Café Kitsune in the Palais Royal Garden. I happen to be addicted to both their dirty chai and matcha latte and the fact that the Palais Royal Garden is one of the only gardens in Paris that is also 100% dog-friendly, making it the perfect spot for us to stop with our pups when we go for a long walk on a Saturday morning or afternoon.

Boot Cafe
A former cobbler, is now home to the tiniest cafe in Paris! If you are on Instagram, it’s worth a visit just for a quick snap in front of those beautiful blue doors. The coffee is perfect and the location is very unique. Note : this café is very small. Unlike the other Parisian cafes on this list, Boot Cafe is not a place where you can sit for hours working on your laptop. (Who has time for that anyway? You have more coffee shops to visit!) This is more of a pop in and take a peek and drink a quick coffee location or take it to go! We love the collection of vintage Vogues available to flip through while you wait for your coffee.

Café de Flore
One of the chicest places to go for coffee in Paris, the Café de Flore on the Saint Germain des Près, I love sitting out on the terrace here sipping house favorites : Champagne, thick French hot chocolate and perfect espresso. I have been going to the Café de Flore since my college days when I would go for a morning croissant, fresh squeezed orange juice and espresso before afternoon classes or skip back to in the evening for a coupe de Champagne. You are sure to be enchanted by the beauty and history of the Café de Flore too. Apollinaire, Sartre, Hemingway, Picasso, Fitzgeralds, Bardot, Yves Saint Laurent and so many more have sat in this cafe as well.

World renowned French pastry chef, Pierre Hermé, and provençal skincare line L’Occitane came together to bring us 86 Champs! The cafe decor is gorgeous, a mixture of Art Deco and a fairy land. This Parisian cafe is on the Champs-Elysées and has the added benefit of being open all day and late into the night. If you have been following this blog for a while, you already know about how much time we spend at the marché d’Aligre. Kaffeehaus
East German style cakes are the stars of the show here at Kaffeehaus. One of the most delicious, and most popular, desserts at Kaffeehaus is the Austrian sachertorte. Our favorite pastry at this lovely Parisian cafe is the écureuil (or squirrel). This creamy chocolate hazelnut tarte is dense and creamy. It features a layer of chocolate mousse, topped with hazelnut. This is one of our favorite places to spend Sundays in Paris.
