Rembrandt House (Museum Rembrandt Huis) (another one of the best museums in Amsterdam!)
We’ve visited the Rembrandt House twice and really enjoyed it!
Museum Rembrandt Huis was once home to the famous Dutch master painter Rembrandt and his family.
Visit to learn about the loves and losses in Rembrandt’s life as well as how his painting style developed over the course of his lifetime.
We particularly loved seeing his “cabinet of curiousities” (we now want to make our own at home even more!) and learning about his lesser known etchings.

The Anne Frank House
I’ve visited The Anne Frank House once and probably wouldn’t go back again just because of how sad the visit is, however, I absolutely recommend visiting once.
The Anne Frank House is definitely one of the best museums in Amsterdam and absolutely worth a visit during your time in Amsterdam.
I read Anne Frank’s journal as a young girl and was so touched by her story.
It felt surreal to visit the house where Anne Frank and her family hid in the secret annex from 1942-1944 before being found.

You may also consider taking an Anne Frank small group walking tour to learn more about Anne Frank’s story and the history of WWII in Amsterdam.

The Anne Frank House gift shop
I recommend always visiting the gift shop to pick up postcards, books or any other items that will help you remember your time in a museum once you get home.
The gift shop at the Anne Frank House is incredibly special and impactful because you can purchase Anne Frank’s famous journal to read more about her story for her own point of view as well as another book of stories she wrote during her time in hiding.
You will also find a selection of books about the Holocaust and World War II available for purchase in the gift shop.
It’s really worth taking some time to explore the gift shop at the end of your visit and to potentially bring home a few books to extend your learning once you get home.
