Amsterdam souvenirs
After several trips to Amsterdam, these are the souvenirs we love the most and recommend you consider getting during your trip!
Vintage Delft KLM house
Have you heard of the Delft KLM houses?
The Delft houses are created in collaboration between KLM Airlines and BOLS Gin and given as gifts if you fly KLM business or first class. They are also very collectible – each one representing an actual house in the Netherlands and filled with BOLS Gin. Each house is numbered and there are 105 total.
On our most recent trip to Amsterdam, we bought one as a special souvenir to commemorate spending Christmas in Amsterdam in a canal house and we treasure it (#53 in case you’re interested!).
You can read more about the history of the houses in the article A Brief History of KLM’s Delft House Collectibles.
Kramer Kunst & Antiek is a fantastic place to get one of these houses. They have an entire wall of vintage Delft KLM houses for sale inside their boutique.

Poffertjes pan
Poffertjes are mini Dutch pancakes. They are so delicious!
As soon as we tasted these tasty little treats, we knew we wanted to be able to make them at home.
We decided to head out to find our very own poffertjes pan. The pan is cast iron with a wood handle which makes it a bit heavy, but you can easily slip it into your suitcase if you want to be able to make poffertjes too.
Delft homeware
In addition to the vintage Delft items you’ll find in the antique shops and markets around Amsterdam, you can purchase pieces from more recent Delft collections at the Heinen Delfts Blauw boutique.
Get some bowls, tea cups or other home items that you can bring back home with you and use while also remembering your trip.
We took our time looking through the pieces that are currently available and our favorite Delft transfer collections are the “Sharing Moments Monkeys” by Janny van der Heijden, the “Sharing Moments Nhaan” by Janny van der Heijden, and the “Paauw Blauw”, a Heinen Delfts Blauw collection.
We got some items from the “Sharing Moments Monkeys” by Janny van der Heijden collection and have loved using them since we got home and remembering our most recent, fabulous trip to Amsterdam!
Address : several locations, our favorite is : Prinsengracht 440, 1017 KE Amsterdam
Stroopwafels
Stroopwafels are thin wafers filled with chewy syrup. They are absolutely delicious!
They are a great souvenir to bring home from Amsterdam. They make great gifts too.
Our favorite place to get stroopwafels in Amsterdam is Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels.
You can buy simple packs of stroopwafels or purchase them in cute souvenir tins.
Address : Albert Cuyp Straat t/o 182, 1073 BL Amsterdam
Art
I love collecting art when we travel.
It’s so wonderful to bring home a piece of art that you love that also reminds you of your trip.
I especially love vintage oil paintings, etchings and maps, so I am always on the lookout for these.
You typically find all three in antique shops in the Netherlands.
One of the best antique shops in Amsterdam is Kramer Kunst & Antiek (explained above).
Address : Prinsengracht 807, 1017 KA Amsterdam
Sometimes we bring home vintage art from our travels to sell in our online vintage boutique. You can see our curated selection of vintage home decor here.
Christmas tree ornament
One of the best souvenirs to bring home from Amsterdam is a Christmas tree ornament.
If you celebrate Christmas and decorate a tree, what better way to remember your fabulous trip to Amsterdam than adding a beautiful Christmas decoration to your tree?
In Amsterdam, you have access to beautiful Delft Christmas tree ornaments.
The best place to buy authentic Delft Christmas ornaments is the Heinen Delfts Blauw boutique.
Address : several locations, our favorite is : Prinsengracht 440, 1017 KE Amsterdam
A postcard
What could be a more quintessential souvenir than a postcard?
Collecting postcards from around the world is one of our personal traditions that we have been enjoying for years!
We send ourselves postcards from all our trips.
We love to get one (or sometimes several!) postcards during a trip and to fill them out with things we did, little notes to ourselves, fun anecdotes and more.
Then when we get home the card is waiting for us or we have the joy of receiving it when we get back from our trip.
It is an inexpensive and fun tradition that we have been doing for years. It’s so much fun to look back on hundreds of cards we have filled out during our travels over the years!
You can easily find postcards in various locations around the city. One of the best places to get pretty postcards is inside the museum gift shops.
