Helping you savor life through International recipes and travel adventures

3 Lemon tips : our favorite ways to use lemons in the kitchen

We LOVE lemons in our home and we use lemons in several of our recipes! Some of our favorites are lemon bars, lemon cookies and lemon sorbet. We will be sharing these soon, so stay tuned!

We have some tried and true tips to get the most from your lemons.

Tip 1 : Just before juicing your lemons, roll them back and forth on your counter top 3 – 5 times. This helps break down the interior of the lemon and will help you get as much juice as lemon as possible out of each of your lemons.

Tip 2 : Once you have squeezed your lemon, you haven’t actually used all of thr available juice! Prepare a bowl full of cold water. Dip your squeezed lemon in the cold water. This will give you a second chance and allow you to squeeze even more lemon juice from your lemon.

Tip 3 : When you’ve finished your recipe, clean your hands with lemon juice and water. Lemon juice naturally neutralizes odors and will help rid your hands of persistent scents. We recommend using this method after handling fish, for example!

Now that you’ve read our tips, and you’ve finished your recipe using lemons, we have an extra tip for you. We suggest you make a delightful and refreshing  pink lemonade margarita.

Once you have squeezed the majority of the juice out of your lemon for your lemon recipe, you can use the remaining juice to prepare the lovely salt rim of the margarita below. You will need a small plate. Pour a handful of salt onto your plate. Rub the interior of the lemon around the rim of your margarita glass. Dip your glass in the salt, making sure to cover the rim in salt. Voila & enjoy! ♥
